Video Recap: 2018 California HR Conference

The 2018 California HR Conference wrapped up on Wednesday, August 29 after four days of HR learning, unique receptions, roaring laughter, creative solutions and strategies, fun HR swag, and life-giving relationships.

Attendees noted CAHR18 as being more strategic in nature than ever before – providing more value in their professional development experience. With over 60 learning sessions providing 17.25 recertification credits, there was plenty to focus on – but that didn’t stop us from having fun!

We mingled while being serenaded by the world’s first LGBTQ Mariachi Band, Mariachi Arcoiris, were inspired by Mel Robbins’ story of transformation and her neuroscience-based tools gifted to us to bypass procrastination, and were challenged by Afdhel Aziz to redefine our work as “liberators of human potential.”

We also gained “Aha!” moments while learning from CHROs of Indeed, O.C. Tanner, and Nielsen Portfolio Division, laughed so hard it hurt on Tuesday night with Colin and Brad from Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and were captivated by Captain Scott Kelly’s personal stories from space. Did you know he nearly dropped out of college before becoming an astronaut? His story gave us many micro-lessons about human potential – including the reminder to focus on what we can control, even if the task at hand seems impossible.

There’s so much more we could say about the magic that was #CAHR18. But why tell you, when we could show you?
