Thought-full Thursday: Connectedness

“I am saddened by how people treat one another and how we are so shut off from one another and how we judge one another, when the truth is, we are all one connected thing. We are all from the same exact molecules.” ~Ellen DeGeneres

You don’t have to think or observe very long, if you focus, on how we are all connected to each other, if not the universe. Spend some time outdoors in a quiet and inspiring location and you can understand those connections immediately.

  • What keeps you shut off from those you are connected to?
  • Listen to your thoughts. What judgments are you making? Is there truth in them?
  • When you realize that we’re all connected, what barriers are left to your ability to be kind to yourself and others?

This photo is making the rounds today, and it is said to depict a New York City cop who met a homeless man without shoes or socks. The policeman went to a nearby store and purchased a pair of boots and socks for the man.

Do you see the connectedness and kindness in the interaction here? What does this photo spark in you?
