The Conceptual Future of Magazines

New concepts for the future of magazines are popping up on a weekly basis. This week, it’s Mag+, a concept developed by Bonnier (publisher of Popular Science), and BERG, a London design studio. Last week, Time, Inc. and The WonderFactory released a concept video for Sports Illustrated, showing what the magazine might look like on a tablet.

The Globe and Mail has an in-depth article on The Future of the Magazine that looks at Bonnier and Time’s concepts, as well as GQ magazine’s new iPhone app, Condé Nast’s refusal to make its magazines available for the Amazon Kindle, and the use of webcam-scannable barcodes in print magazines to get more online content.
