Sunday shoutout to the HR community

Thanks for your generosity!

I have a couple of HR community shout-outs on this first Sunday morning of 2010. The first is to the generosity of the HR blogging community who worked together in November to generate over $1,900 in donations to Children Awaiting Parents through participating in the HR Carnival of Giving .   I received an email from Mark Soule, Executive Director at Children Awaiting Parents and wanted to share it with everyone.  You can see it in the image below.

Thanks for your continued contributions

I also wanted to give personal shout-outs to a pair of fellow HR Carnival hosts.  First, April Dowling of Pseudo HR who did a fantastic job of writing a Christmas Eve carnival poem when she opened the carnival.   Nicely done, and you should check it out if you haven’t already done so.

My other shout-out is for the innovative and ubiquitous Bill Boorman of the Norton Folgate, the recruiting unBlog, who is running a multi-day carnival event featuring the first ever HR Carnival consisting of vlog (video log) contributions.  You can see the current postings here, here, here, and here.  Bill’s challenge was for each vlogger to do a 60 second piece introducing themselves, and talking about what might be upcoming in 2010.   This was a very creative and innovative twist to the Carnival, and Bill deserves a lot of credit pulling it together.  It is a lot more work to host a carnival than you would expect.  Well done, Bill!

I can’t wait to see how the 2010 hosts of the HR Carnival continue to raise the bar on new uses for the Carnival platform!

Oh, here is my contribution for Bill’s event:
