Watching (Obama’s) party take a pounding is not the worst thing that could befall Obama politically.  In fact, you could argue that rather than shudder at the thought of a more balanced Congress, Obama and his aides should embrace it.–Matt Bai, from Tyranny of the Majorities, Sunday New York Times Magazine Matt Bai has never been one to take the pundits too seriously.  Furthermore, when he goes against conventional wisdom, he’s always got a great argument and often right on.  He’s got a great argument in this article, and I hope he’s right.Bai suggests that chastened by the defeat in Massachusetts, Obama may take his case directly to the voters.That kind of sanity would be very good for the public.But keep Winston Churchill’s comments about democracy always in mind.
