Quotation of The Week: Martin Luther King, Jr.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. Martin Luther King, Jr.This quote from King’s book of sermons, Strength to Love, grows out of his philosophy of non-violence and his critique of the community of faith.  It is essentially a challenge to people of faith who hold a perspective on others that is wrongheaded from the start.  Although the statement was applied directly to the faith matters of people, his comment applies to a much broader section of life, including the sociologies of race, politics and even business.  When sincerity is the test of truth, conscientious stupidity is often the result.
