Monster.com Joins the Social Jobs Partnership, Making Monster Jobs Available in Facebook App for Job Hunters

Monster announced its participation in Facebook’s new application for the Social Jobs Partnership, a collaboration between the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the Direct Employers Association (DE), the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) and Facebook. As a worldwide leader in the online recruitment industry, Monster is excited to bring its more than 15 years of leadership to Facebook’s newly launched effort to aid the unemployed, underemployed and transitioning veterans, now making jobs easily available to millions of Facebook U.S. users within the new Social Jobs Partnership app. We had a chance to catch up with Matt Mund, senior vice president of product management for Monster Worldwide, to give us more background into the new Social Jobs Partnership (SJP) app and the benefit to Monster customers and job seekers.

MonsterThinking: Matt, can you tell us a bit more about the Social Jobs Partnership and how the new app fits in?

Matt: In October 2011, Facebook introduced the Social Jobs Partnership. In the interest of getting people back to work, the partnership will pursue a number of initiatives designed to more effectively leverage the utility of social networks in the job market. One of the intentions of the SJP was to explore and develop systems where new job postings can be delivered virally through the Facebook site at no charge. So today, just a little over a year later, Facebook formally launched the Social Jobs Partnership app, aggregating job listings from third party developer partners, including Monster. Additionally, Monster will be providing veteran-friendly jobs through our Military.com jobs feed. This job application is simply an aggregate way of viewing all of the open job positions that are being hosted on Facebook developer partners.

How is Monster is participating in Facebook’s Social Jobs Partnership App?

Monster brings 15+ years of unrivaled online recruitment expertise in joining Facebook in their effort to help get Americans back to work. The SJP app provides another distribution channel for delivering Monster jobs to millions of Facebook users in the U.S. and continues Monster’s strategy to expand our social presence and extend the ability for our customers and job seekers to connect around great opportunities.

How does the Social Jobs Partnership app complement BeKnown?

Making Monster jobs available within the SJP app is a great complement to BeKnown™, Monster’s professional networking app on Facebook. Once a Facebook user sees a job of interest, they can use BeKnown to immediately see how they’re connected to that job through their extended network of BeKnown connections and Facebook friends.

How will The Social Jobs App differ from BeKnown?

The SJP App aggregates job listings from 3rd party developer partners, including Monster and Veterans-friendly jobs from Military.com. There are no social networking features in the Social Jobs app. BeKnown is all about networking. Because BeKnown is fully integrated into Monster, when someone clicks on a job in the Social Jobs app, they are taken to the Monster site and can immediately see how they’re connected to that job through their extended network of BeKnown connections and Facebook friends.

What does Monster’s participation in the Social Jobs Partnership app mean for job seekers?
The SJP app gives job seekers another channel on Facebook to connect and network around great opportunities. Users can click on a Monster job listing and be sent to Monster.com to apply immediately, and view military-friendly and veterans jobs from Monster and Military.com.

How does the SJP app benefit Monster customers?

The SJP app is a continuation of Monster’s strategy to expand our social presence and extend the ability for our customers and job seekers to connect around great opportunities. By joining Facebook’s Social Jobs Partnership Initiative, Monster provides another distribution channel for delivering our customers’ jobs to millions of Facebook users in the U.S. at no additional cost beyond the job posting.
