This may sound odd but I had a great argument with my wife over the holidays. Specifically, we argued over whether or not the government would ever legislate vacation time for American workers.
“The American public enjoys the least amount of paid vacation time of any advanced, prosperous nation. Not a single statute on either the federal or state level guarantees a single day of vacation to anyone. What we can do about it: As soon as the current economic slowdown reverses itself, I plan to form an organization agitating for an amendment to the Wages and Hours Act, guaranteeing a minimum of three weeks’ paid vacation per year to all persons who have been at work for one year.”
My wife thinks it’ll never happen. I disagree. What do you think? Leave a comment!
