Make 2018 your year!

It’s a New Year and time to consider making changes for the better- not only personally, but professionally.  Everyone talks about starting a new diet and going to the gym as part of their New Year resolution, but what will you do from a professional stand point?

Perhaps you haven’t updated your resume in a while.  Even though you might be happy in your current role and not planning on looking, there’s nothing wrong with keeping your resume up to date.  What are some things that you did last year that you’d like to incorporate (training classes, special projects, new responsibilities, etc.)?  While you’re at it, update your LinkedIn profile.  Add some new skills and perhaps update your photo and headline.

Keep yourself abreast on changes in the marketplace by expanding the professional websites you visit.  Social media is always helpful, but why not try looking more into industry specific sites?

Get Organized!  Create new folders.  It’s a New Year and, although you may be working on some of the same assignments, decide what is going to be your primary focus and then prioritize from there.  Decide what you would like to continue doing and what needs to be done differently.

And lastly, create new professional goals for yourself.  What are some things you would like to accomplish in 2018 professionally?  Is there a course you have been wanting to enroll in to increase your skills in your current role, or something that might be useful in your overall professional development?
