Leadership Spotlight: Jennifer Wilson

Leadership Spotlight:  Jennifer Wilson

On behalf of our entire team, our clients, readers and colleagues, I am dedicating this week’s post to our ConvergenceCoaching, LLC co-founder and partner Jennifer Wilson.  Two weeks ago we kicked off our new Leadership Spotlight monthly series, which got me thinking about the powerful leaders that I know and would like to recognize.  Too many times in our lives we wait until it’s too late to tell people how much we admire them and to recognize how they have positively affected our lives.  I am hoping to start a new trend with this post – telling people how amazing they are – out of the blue, for no reason except to make sure that they know how much they are appreciated and admired.

There are so many reasons to celebrate our tremendously powerful, yet compassionate leader, Jen!

As you may not know, Jen just celebrated a birthday last week so I‘d like to start by sending out a big happy birthday wish to her! Happy birthday Jen – I wish I could have given you a hug in person! You have accomplished so much in your life and we can’t wait to see what is yet to come!

Jen was recently named as one of the Most Powerful Women in Accounting by the CPA Practice Advisor. The ‘Most Powerful Women in Accounting’ Award is a groundbreaking initiative that recognizes the impact women have on the profession. You can read their entire interview with Jen by clicking here. This year, Jen was also named as one of Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting for the tenth time and to INSIDE Public Accounting’s Top 10 Most Recommended Consultants list for the fifth consecutive year! Although she is no stranger to prestigious awards and accolades, I know that she appreciates it just as much every year when she is selected as when she received the honor for the very first time. Jen, thank you for demonstrating longevity and a lifelong commitment to help others achieve their definition of success!

This year marks ConvergenceCoaching’s 12th anniversary! What a blessing! Thank you, Jen for co-founding this wonderful company and bringing together such a great group of people to work together.

Jen is one the most effective leaders I know because she leads by example and is tireless in her dedication to fulfill her own personal vision and the vision of ConvergenceCoaching! I have no doubt that if I needed her help either related to a business issue or even a personal issue she would make time for me. Even if she had just spent eight hours on her feet teaching followed by a business dinner,  a mini-marathon session at her laptop replying to the day’s e-mails and prepping for another day of teaching the next day – I could still count on her to make time.

And I know she would do the same for any one of her valued clients because when she does business with someone, they not only have an invaluable consultant and coach, they have a friend who has a deep interest in helping them succeed in every area of their life. I have seen her, many times, go what I would consider to be “above and beyond” and perhaps what others would consider to be “outside the scope of our services” and she does these things because it is in her nature to be interested in others and to support them however she can. I could tell this from the very first conversation that I had with her.  And I have no doubt that for many of you reading this right now, she has touched your life and extended her support to you in a way that makes you grateful to know her. Take a moment to let Jen know what she did for you – she may not realize it! Feel free to comment here or send her a private message.

Not only does Jen inspire us to be better leaders and better people but she always does it in a fun way. Her approach is a wonderful mixture of relevant, funny, honest, powerful and compassionate. And she does a brilliant Justin Bieber impersonation, by the way!

Perhaps reading this has also made you think of someone else in your life who has positively affected you? If so, take a moment to let them know how much you appreciate their energy and support and be certain that they know how they make a difference!

Warm regards,

Michelle Baca
