How to Clone Yourself with Marketing, Systems and Sequences

One of the biggest reasons many of us go into business for ourselves can be summed up in one simple word: freedom.

Ahhh, freedom: from salary caps and awful bosses to limited vacation time and boring and pointless staff meetings.

“I’m going to play by the rules that I make, not anybody else’s,” we say to ourselves with satisfaction.

And at first it is pretty blissful. But before long, many entrepreneurs—especially those who are completely solo—find that they’ve “escaped” right into another job. Albeit it’s a job with a boss they like a whole lot better—but it’s still a job nonetheless.

How does it happen? Simple: there are only so many hours in a day and yet SO much to get done. Often solopreneurs do it all: from marketing, to admin, to working with clients and bookkeeping. To grow a business into the 6 figures and beyond, it’s just NOT sustainable.

What’s the solution? There are many ways to save your sanity, including hiring a virtual assistant or other team members to take some tasks off of your plate. However, you can also “clone” yourself in other ways as well—especially with technology–and this is often overlooked.

See, the slow and (burnout-causing) way to grow a business is to do everything one to one: networking, selling, answering objections, educating…

These days, there are thankfully so many more ways to incorporate systems, sequences and automation into day-to-day business, that it’s a lot easier (and faster) to grow a solo business to 6 figures than ever before. If you’ve never thought about adding more leverage to your business this way, consider the following examples of how you could do this:

Social media: It’s easy to take this for granted these days, but where else can you reach an audience of millions at one time and for FREE?! It’s easier than ever to build your personal brand and your very own platform today thanks to social networking.

Autoresponders: Using automated email messages to respond to inquiries, schedule appointments with prospects, deliver products or send out a sequence of marketing messages not only saves you time, but helps build know, like and trust.

Livestreams: Streaming video technology has come a long way in recent years, and it’s now possible to broadcast live events, meetings, and more to people all over the world in real time.

Teleseminars/webinars: Train others or be trained, sell your products or launch your latest program from the comfort of your own home? It’s a no-brainer.

Your website/blog: Besides being a way for others to get in contact with you, don’t forget that your site is a powerful tool to not only educate prospective clients and customers about your credentials and the way you work, but also an ideal place to showcase testimonials and social proof for people contemplating purchasing from or working with you.

Your “free taste:” When you offer a free “taste” on your site (in the form of a free report, e-course, checklist, etc.), people get a risk-free introduction to you (think of it as “try before you buy”), you no longer need to educate them one by one, AND you build your list by requiring them to opt into to receive it. Smart!

An e-zine: An email newsletter is still one of the most effective and least expensive ways to keep yourself and your offerings top of mind, as well as build your credibility in the eyes of an unlimited amount of people at the click of a mouse.

Recorded voice messages: Whether inbound or outbound, voice messages and broadcasts can be used to thank customers for purchases, announce your latest sale, or invite thousands of people to your next live workshop.

Affiliates: Affiliates (or joint venture partners as they are often referred to as) are like your very own mini sales force. They spread the word about your latest offering, you pay a commission on any sales they obtain for you, and you rack up more sales than you would have on your own thanks to their help. It’s a true win-win.

Now, it’s your turn to think about how you could apply this in your own business. What ONE strategy or method could you start with? Make it a goal to start there and you’ll be getting more done—with less effort—in no time.
