Facebook is currently one of the hottest properties in social marketing. The number of active users surpassed 300 million in September, with more than half of those users outside of college. People 35 years old and above are the site’s fastest growing-demographic (Facebook Statistics). Initially set up as a network for Harvard students, it quickly expanded to other universities, then high school students and eventually, in 2006, it was opened up to anyone over the age of 13.
