Get to Know Millennials

As more and more millennials (defined as being 16 – 34 years old) join the workforce, how much do you really know about this generation? Maybe it is time to get to know them a little better.

If you are a boss, co-worker or a Millennial is your boss, this generation is redefining the workplace.  There was a great blog post called Millennials in the Workplace that discusses the changes, interests and overall effect Millennial are having on what was considered the traditional workplace.

Did you know that:

  • Millennials are the most educated generation ever – they have the college debt to prove it
  • 15.8M are unemployed – over a 1/3 of the entire group
  • They excel at eLearning opportunities (more on this below)

Our friends at http://www.nonprofitcollegesonline.com put together an informative infographic defining the Millennial Generation, which I have included below:

There is a lot of information in this infographic, but one significant area that is  not highlighted well is the comment that Millennials “excel with eLearning opportunities.”

As Jeffrey A. Roth stated in his blog called Generation Y Workforce = eLearning Workplace, “Generation Y is coming of age and breaking into the workforce. Their approach to business is new and effective. This generation does business differently but a lot of companies like their style. Young workers are comfortable with online learning, telecommuting, and various communication technologies.

Learning Management Systems (LMSs) are transforming traditional office environments into remote hotspots that employees can access from any place, at any time.”

Are you leveraging LMS technology to maximize the effectiveness and engagement of Millennials where 24% self identify with “technology use”?

It is time to see what an LMS can do for your organization’s most valuable assets, its people, regardless of their generation. Get a free, personal demo of social learning management solution, TOPYX.
