Drawing People Together Around a Vision

Every Thursday, we provide you with a thoughtful way to coach yourself – something all leaders need to do. I’ve been featuring a series of quotes from my favorite writers and bloggers on the topic of leadership. Jennifer V. Miller, featured today, is a neighbor who lives and works about an hour north of me. She was one of the first amazing people I met through the grand art of blogging and social media. She is smart as a whip, and owns and operates SkillSource (besides writing a blog called The People Equation that you should subscribe to).

So take five and enjoy Jennifer’s quote and reflect on the questions that follow. Your comments and answers to the questions are always welcome!

“Fostering enthusiasm for your vision helps generate excitement and build momentum. Creating clarity about your team’s vision provides a road map for how to live the vision each day. Inviting dialogue helps draw people together and provides a forum for open discussion.” ~Jennifer V. Miller

  • What is working in developing/communicating a vision for your team?
  • What is lacking in developing/communicating a vision for you and your team?
  • Are you fostering enthusiasm, creating clarity and inviting dialog around the vision?
    • When will you start?
    • Who can help?
