Black Friday Shouldn’t Be a Bloodsport

Black Friday has turned into a hot mess of an event. Where once it was a way to effectively kick off the retail holiday season (and provide a snapshot of what the season may look like, sales-wise), it’s now turned into a feeding frenzy. Companies are racing to the bottom to see how early they can open. Customers are exhibiting behavior that in a different context would make you want to cross the street to get away from them. Everyone seems miserable, yet unable to stop themselves.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Please be kind, to yourselves and to those around you this Friday (and beyond) if you choose to shop this Friday. Better yet, turn off the TV and if you have the day off, stay home with family and friends. Give thanks for what you have, and help those that don’t have so much.
