Ask What Your Gift Is, Then Share It With The World

Hugh Macleod (@gapingvoid) sums up social media/ inbound/ viral marketing in three simple sentences —

1. Figure out what your gift is, and give it to them on a regular basis.

2. Make sure it’s received as a real gift, not as an advertising message.

3. Then figure out exactly what it is that your trail of breadcrumbs leads back to.

Trust me, this is good advise. Trust me and ask what your gift is.

If you can’t answer that, ask what your preferred social role is. Ask if you are a learner, connector, moderator, organizer, or teacher. Each of these social roles comes with a gift: asking questions, bringing together people, resolving disputes, managing resources, or showing people how.

Again, ask what your gift is, then share it with the world. The rest will follow.
