In my previous post I talked about connecting people in your network to each other and seeing where that leads.
If you use Twitter you will be aware of #followfriday where
tweeters list the people they think others on Twitter should “follow” .
It’s similar to my suggestion above but in the main it is really only
giving people a “name check”..
It is easy to forget that social media works best when there is a
conversation. Having a good list of contacts on Facebook,Linkedin and
Twitter is valuable – what is even more valuable is what opportunities
being connected throws up.
There might be people you added to your contacts some months ( maybe
even years) ago but who you have not been in touch with since. How
about making today Reconnect Day?
A couple of suggestions on how to do this
- why not look at who tweeted the top 5 tweets in one of your lists (
assuming your lists include people you know …but even then might be a
chance to get to know them!) - check your updates stream on Linkedin and send a message to the
first few people you see there – commenting on whatever update that made
them appear in your stream anyway - see who is saying what on Facebook and join in the conversation
- flick through your friends/contacts/followers and if see who you
have not heard from for a while…and then drop them a note or write on
their wall or tweet..
Take 5 minutes – 15 minutes – whatever time you have spare and see what happens.
And please share what happens.
