As we have entered into a brand new, fresh New Year 2015, it’s time to look back in recent past years what we have gone through, what we have achieved and what we have to achieve! The gone years have witnessed drastic change in the working culture of organizations. They have emerged as tech savvy Companies with rising demand of more and more technological tools. Such change is going throughout the world in every department.
Worldwide, HR is going through a huge technology transformation. HRs have to use technology and tools on the every aspect of employee life cycle now in recent years. For example: Recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee performance, employee engagement, etc. – entire employee lifecycle has gone through complete change in the last 10 years. HR is becoming one of the major functions that consumes IT bandwidth from the CIO.
Few years back, Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) were going through such technology transformation. They were demanding time, mindshare and budget from the CIO for helping the marketing team to reach customers. Now, CMOs have picked up lot of technology related knowledge from their counterparts. In several organizations, CMOs have their own dedicated IT team (or) demand “required” bandwidth from the central IT pool. And, you look at it – they use technology, social networking tools to the core to promote the brand, attract customers and engage customers.
Similar transformation is happening at HR front. HR uses bits and pieces of technologies across the employee life cycle. Usage of social networks has become the norm for recruitment. HR Branding is a key function for HR. “Employee engagement” is becoming better through the use of technology. Big data analytics is emerging to serve the employees better. Linking the employee engagement with the performance will help in achieving the business excellence. You need technology to play a key role in employee engagement. We foresee that 2015 will be an exciting year for CHRO moving towards technology direction. We see a blend of technology and “people to people” connect happening in a positive way.
