In some ways Employee Appreciation Day sounds like any other unofficial holiday such as Valentine’s Day or Squirrel Appreciation Day (yep it’s on Jan 21st). A day created for either commercial gain or fun way to get some social media buzz.
Not the case.
The first Friday in March has been bringing attention to managers, company leadership and HR about the importance of appreciating employees since 1995.
Why do we need a day to encourage small acts of recognition?
Well for one thing over 65% of employees do not feel recognized for their work.
