Employee Engagement Equals Squat

I don’t care if your employees are engaged.

I especially don’t care if your employees are happy.

I don’t care how much your employees like your company.

I don’t care how long your employees have been with your company.

I don’t care if your employee has been there for a day, a week, a year or for their entire career.

Do you know what every one of your customers and I care about?

Each and everyone of your customers cares that the employee who is serving them is enabled to create an exceptional experience.

If I hear the word “employee engagement” one more time I am pretty much going to puke in my lunch bag.

Companies around the world have spent tens of billions of dollars trying to engage their employees and it hasn’t made any difference.

Engagement is great for couples, but it does nothing for an employee.

It does even less for your customer.

The way to create ROI and the way to create sustainable results is to enable and energize your work force.

When you enable your employees to excel, they become more energized and the bi-product of that is they are more engaged to be part of your organization.

Engaged employees are happy to be part of the organization.

However, that has nothing to do with how they serve the customer.

It has nothing to do with how energized they are with carrying out their responsibilities to serve a customer.

When you provide skills for your talent to excel with the customer, they become highly energized, which leads to engagement.

Trying to create engagement is similar to trying to push a rope.

However, when you provide enablement which energizes your talent, they will pull the rope.
